Born into a family deeply embedded in musical traditions, Shri Sidhartha Chatterjee’s journey with the tabla began under the guidance of his father, Shri Rabindra Nath Chatterjee. From an early age, he was mentored by the legendary Pandit Kanailal Bhattacharya and his son, Taalrang Biplab Bhattacharya.
Sidhartha Chatterjee, with his innate ability to evoke crystal-clear melodies from his drums, has emerged as one of India’s most eminent tabla players.
Renowned tabla maestro Siddhartha Chatterjee has had the profound privilege of sharing the stage with India’s most revered musicians and dancers, including legends like Pandit Birju Maharaj, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, Sri Mousumi Bhattacharya, among many others, creating unforgettable musical symphonies.
As the director of the Farukhabad gharana, founded by Haji Vilayat Hussain Khan Sahib, Sidhartha Chatterjee strives to breathe new life into his instrument.
Besides his solo performances and recordings, he has collaborated with numerous distinguished musicians across India. His extensive performances span notable venues such as Ramkrishna Mission Belur Math, Gayatri Music Circle in Chennai, Patna Gurupurnima Mahotsav, Anuranan Music Festival in Pune, Bhai Mardana Music Festival in Patiala, and Sangeet Natak Academy in Chandigarh, among others.
His contributions to Indian classical music have earned him several accolades, including “Sangeet Ratan,” “Taal Sadhak Samman,” “Bhatkhande Sangeet Samman,” And “Kala Chakra Churamani Samman.” As a graded artist of All India Radio, Siddhartha Chatterjee continues to inspire and innovate, leaving an indelible mark on the world of Indian classical music.
