OSS Inter-House Golf Tournament 2025: A Day of Unity and Tradition
THE OLD SANAWARIAN SOCIETY, THE PROUD ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF THE LAWRENCE SCHOOL, SANAWAR, HOSTED THE MUCH-AWAITED OSS INTER-HOUSE GOLF TOURNAMENT 2025 ON MARCH 27, 2025.
Held at the esteemed ITC Classic Golf & Country Club in Manesar, this event brought together golf enthusiasts and distinguished guests for a memorable day of spirited competition and warm camaraderie.
The tournament served as more than just a sporting event—it became a vibrant platform for fostering friendships and goodwill among the alumni community. Through this gathering, the participants celebrated the cherished legacy, enduring traditions and core values of their alma mater. The event truly embodied the spirit of Sanawar, uniting past and present in a shared love for sport and heritage.
This day of lively competition and heartfelt connection reaffirmed the bonds that make the Sanawarian fraternity unique, ensuring that the values of unity and excellence continue to thrive for generations to come.
A Spectacle of Skill and Spirit: Highlights from the OSS Inter-House Golf Tournament 2025
The OSS Inter-House Golf Tournament 2025 was nothing short of a remarkable display of talent and determination. Thirteen teams enthusiastically teed-off to a ShotGun Start, adopting the Stableford scoring format, with handicaps determined by the unique Double Preoria System. The lush greens of the ITC Classic Golf & Country Club provided an idyllic backdrop, where players competed with passion and precision, showcasing the very best of their skills.
Among the participants were seasoned veterans and promising amateurs, including a distinguished four-ball from Bharat Petroleum, though C&MD G Krishna Kumar was unable to attend due to professional commitments. Adding to the event’s prestige were notable Sanawar alumni, including single handicappers Mayank Oberoi, Viren Ghumman, and Mivaan Singh; Member of Parliament (Gurugram), Rao Inderjit Singh; corporate leaders Vipin Sondhi (former MD & CEO, Ashok Leyland & JCB India and on the Board of Governors, Sanawar), Gaurav Bhagat (MD, GB Academy) and Prabhjot Cheema (Founding Partner, Nexedge Capital); former Asian Squash Semi-finalist Lalit Varma; and Defence Analyst Col. Ajai Shukla. Representing their houses—Himalaya, Nilagiri, Siwalik and Vindhya—they competed fervently for the coveted Championship Trophy, embodying the camaraderie and competitive spirit of the event.
As the golden hues of the setting sun graced the horizon, participants came together for a lively sundowner, reliving the highlights of the day and sharing stories from the greens. The event culminated in a grand prize distribution ceremony, where outstanding performances were honored, and the spirit of camaraderie celebrated.
The Presentation Party, led by President OSS Pankaj Sapru, included esteemed Board member Vipin Sondhi, representatives from Bharat Petroleum and Exotic Group, Brig. Adarsh Butail, President Elect OSS and Kewal S Virk, Vice President OSS, making it a fitting conclusion to an unforgettable day.
Triumph and Excellence on Display
Himalaya House defended their title with an outstanding performance, claiming the Championship Trophy, while Vindhya House emerged as worthy Runners Up. Among the individual honors, Viren Ghumman shone with the Best Gross Score of 70, Uday Talwar impressed with the Longest Drive at 285 yards, and Yogesh Kapoor showcased precision with the Closest to the Pin at 3’7”. Ajai Sukhla, Vaibhav Soni, and Sunil Khorana excelled in their respective Handicap categories, earning the Best Net Scores for groupings 0-9, 10-17, and 18-24. These achievements highlighted the spirit of skill and sportsmanship that defined the tournament.
