NATYANJALI DANCE FESTIVAL: A GRAND CULTURAL EXTRAVAGANZA
The Natyanjali Dance Festival, a spectacular celebration of Indian cultural heritage, unfolded recently, graced by the divine presence of Lord Nataraja, the eternal dancer.
“With hearts full of devotion, we, the Gaudiya Nritya Bharati troupe, brought the art of Gaudiya Nritya to this grand event, leaving audiences captivated. Our journey spanned several sacred stages—from the spiritual energy of Kumbakonam on 26th February to the ethereal atmosphere of Chidambaram on 27th February, followed by the magnificent Thanjavur Brihadeshvara Festival on 28th February, and culminating on 2nd March 2025 at the revered Madras Kalibari,” renowned scholar Dr. Prof. Mahua Mukherjee shared her insights on the captivating Gaudiya Nritya performances of the 44th Natyanjali Festival held recently.
“Each performance was a heartfelt offering to the rhythm of creation itself, echoing Rabindranath Tagore’s timeless verse: “Let the links of my shackles snap at every step of thy Dance, O Lord, and let my heart awake in the freedom of eternal voice,” she added.
The Natyanjali Dance Festival reached its pinnacle under the visionary choreography and direction of Dr. Prof. Mahua Mukherjee, whose creative brilliance brought the soul of Gaudiya Nritya to life. The talented dancers of Gaudiya Nritya Bharati from Kolkata infused the stage with their grace and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on every heart present.
The enchanting performances featured the remarkable talents of dancers Dr. Mahua Mukherjee, Dr. Soumya Bhowmick, Dr. Paromita Banerjee, Sayantika Majumdar, Shridip Karmakar, Samarpan Sengupta, Koushik Sau and Rakesh Maji with splendid accompaniment of Vocal by Pandit Amitava Mukherjee. The enchanting flute and sitar of Ayan Mukherjee, also the soulful violin of Shubhodip Chakraborti added a divine symphony, weaving melody and rhythm into the very fabric of the performances.
