MAGICAL ILLUSIONS IN MIME: A UNIQUE WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE

Discover the enchanting world of mime with the “Magical Illusions in Mime” workshop, scheduled for Friday, 31st January 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. 

This captivating event, hosted by Drupad Gaonkar, also known as Blip, a two-time World Record holder, TEDx Speaker, and Director of Mooladhvani (Mime Institute in Auroville), promises to be an unforgettable experience.

“The workshop aims to teach participants how to create magical illusions of things and spaces in the non-verbal performing art form of mime. By using examples from daily interactions with our surroundings, attendees will learn to create metaphoric acts in mime, enhancing their ability to communicate inner and outer experiences to an audience,” says the organizers of the workshop.

Drupad Gaonkar, a multi-performing and visual artist, has an impressive background. He is the founder of Mooladhvani in Movement & Expression (M.I.M.E.) and the Bharatiya Mookabhinaya Natya Mahua Sangha (Indian Mime Federation). His professional mime troupe, IMIMEGINATION, has been performing since 2008, bringing to life the characters of Sri Aurobindo’s epic SAVITRI.

The workshop will feature two acts: “A Heartful Touch” (Student Act) with a 10-minute duration and “Fluttering Forms” performed by Blip and Drupad, lasting 30 minutes.
