IGNCA REGIONAL CENTER INAUGURATED IN TIRUPATI: PRESERVING INDIA’S CULTURAL RICHNESS
On 12 March 2025, Tirupati witnessed a landmark moment with the inauguration of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) Regional Center. This newly established center, set near the revered Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, reflects a deep commitment to preserving India’s cultural heritage. The inauguration was a vibrant affair graced by distinguished personalities and marked by traditional rituals that showcased the beauty of Indian culture.
In collaboration with the National Sanskrit University (NSU), the center promises to become a hub for cultural and academic activities. From documenting ancient music, Vedic traditions, and Agama scriptures to promoting oral literary treasures, this center will serve as a bridge connecting the past with the present. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between IGNCA and NSU emphasizes their shared vision to further cultural and academic collaboration.
Virtually inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, the ceremony brought together eminent figures such as IGNCA Trustee Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, Joint Secretary Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. G.S.R. Krishnamurthy. Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani’s wife, Sudha Reddy, Director (Administrator) Priyanka Mishra and other distinguished guests added to the grandeur of the occasion.
Housed in the historically significant residence of India’s first Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Madabhushi Ananthasayanam Ayyangar, this center stands as a beacon for cultural preservation.
The day was a celebration of culture and knowledge, held in an environment that radiated scholarly charm, with shelves filled with books reflecting a commitment to learning.
