CELEBRATING THE JOURNEY OF TABLA MAESTRO PANDIT MITHILESH KUMAR JHA
Let’s celebrate the journey of Pandit Mithilesh Kumar Jha, a renowned Tabla maestro. He began his training at the tender age of six under the guidance of his father, Shri Gopikant Jha. Mithilesh further refined his skills with the esteemed Guru Pandit Bulbul Maharaj of the Benaras Gharana, shaping him into the exceptional artist he is today.
He won the first prize in the All India Music competition in 1986 and the second prize in the Youth Festival organized by the Government of Bihar in 1985. Moving to Delhi, he received further guidance from sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan. Today, Mithilesh is a frequent performer with vocalists and instrumentalists both in India and abroad.
Pandit Mithilesh Kumar Jha is a prominent Tabla player of recent times, known for his collaborations with legendary artists like Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Begum Parveen Sultana, Pandit Jasraj, Vidushi Girija Devi, Pandit Rajan-Sajan Mishra, Pandit Bhajan Sopori, and Vidushi Shubha Mudgal, among many others.
In addition to his esteemed accompaniments, he has also captivated audiences with numerous solo performances, showcasing his exceptional talent and mastery of the Tabla.
Pandit Mithilesh Kumar Jha regularly graces prestigious platforms such as the Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan, SAARC Festival, Taj Mahotsav and ITC Music Festivals.
Pandit Mithilesh Kumar Jha has made significant contributions to films like “Khamosh Pani” and “The Dance of the Beat.” His exceptional talent has earned him numerous accolades, including “The Vidyashree” award and a Gold Medal from Prayag Sangeet Samiti.
THE SHRUTI FOUNDATION
Pandit Mithilesh Kumar Jha founded “The Shruti Foundation” to support and provide a platform for young, talented artists. As a dedicated teacher, he imparts his knowledge of Tabla in the traditional gurukul style in Greater Noida, nurturing the next generation of musicians with great care and passion.
