“Music is taught up to a certain level in educational institutions. But we feel that more needs to be done especially when it comes to Indian Classical Art form, and this is where BENU would like to contribute. And with a large number of latent talents, we are sure that our efforts will develop likings among a large number of youths and students. This would help to generate a cultural shift towards Indian Heritage Music over the next few years. We shall organise classical music programs in educational institutions, provide training and guidance and other necessary aspects related to music,”says the organisers of the Benu heritage program.

“In line with our vision, we are organizing the “BENU HERITAGE” event for students from class V and above, including colleges. This event will expose them to high-quality music by senior exponents in the field. Since 2023, BENU has been bringing this event to various cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Kolkata, reaching over 5000 students,” organizers added.

BENU: NURTURING INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

BENU, a non-profit organization founded by Vidushi Padmaja Chakraborty, is dedicated to promoting Indian culture and heritage through classical music. Registered as a trust in New Delhi, BENU has been actively organizing programs across the country to celebrate and preserve Indian classical art. Driven by a vision to safeguard our cultural heritage, BENU has adopted an “Institutional Approach” to reach out to children and youth in schools and colleges. By partnering with educational institutions, BENU provides young minds with the opportunity to experience high-quality Indian classical music, a chance they might not have had otherwise. This initiative aims to inspire the next generation to cherish and uphold our rich traditions, ensuring that the true value of our heritage is passed down from traditional practitioners to the youth. Though it may seem like a small step, BENU’s efforts are crucial in strengthening and preserving our cultural legacy.

The event, coordinated by Pandit Vijay Shankar Mishra ji and Vidushi Padmaja Chakraborty ji, aims to inspire the next generation to appreciate and preserve our rich musical heritage.
