Sahelee Bose: A Kathak Virtuoso Weaving Magic Through Dance

Sahelee Bose, a name synonymous with grace and innovation in the world of Kathak, has cemented her place as a celebrated dancer, choreographer and mentor. 

Her journey began under the tutelage of Runu Bhattacharya, and over the years, she mastered the pure style of Lucknow Gharana from Pandit Santosh Maharaj and tabla maestro Pandit Gopal Mishra. She further enriched her artistry by attending workshops led by iconic figures such as Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj, Vidushi Saswati Sen, Pandit Rajendra Gangani, Smt. Madhumita Roy, Shri Ramaprasad Chattopadhyay and other stalwarts of Indian classical dance.

Her talents were recognized early when she secured second place in the All Bengal Kathak competition, judged by Pandit Maharaj Ji himself. This milestone led her to Kathak Kendra, Delhi, where she honed her skills under the brilliant guidance of Maharaj Ji, Vidushi Saswati Sen, Jay Kishan Maharaj and Deepak Maharaj. Sahelee Bose has since blossomed into an influential cultural figure of North Bengal, enthralling audiences with mesmerizing performances in Kolkata, Mumbai, Assam, Tripura and beyond.

Awarded numerous accolades at prestigious events, Sahelee Bose embodies the essence of Indian classical dance. Her dedication, creativity, and mastery continue to inspire aspiring dancers, keeping the rich traditions of Kathak alive and thriving.

Nurturing Dreams Through SRISHTY

Together with her husband, eminent musician   Subir Thakur, Sahelee Bose founded SRISHTY, an institution of dance and music that has blossomed into a vibrant hub of creativity and learning. As it nears its remarkable 30th anniversary, SRISHTY stands as a testament to their shared vision and dedication. The institution’s students have consistently achieved excellence, with many earning prestigious scholarships at junior and senior levels under the Human Resource Department, Government of India. 

Through SRISHTY, Sahelee Bose has not only nurtured budding talents but has also ensured that the rhythms of dance and music continue to inspire generations.
