HONORING A MUSICAL VISIONARY: THE STORY OF SUR SARGAM CLASSICAL FOUNDATION
PREPARE TO BE MESMERIZED BY THE MELODIOUS CHARM OF INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC AT THE MUCH-ANTICIPATED NAADBRAHMA CLASSICAL MUSIC FESTIVAL.
Organized by the esteemed Sur Sargam Foundation, this event honors the legendary Shri. Utpal Bose, a luminary in the world of music. Set across two enchanting evenings, on 4th and 5th April 2025, the festival promises to transport music lovers into a realm of rhythm and raga.
The roots of Sur Sargam Classical Foundation of North Bengal, Siliguri, trace back to the brilliant mind of Vidwan Shri Utpal Bose, a devoted disciple of Guru Acharya Pandit Chinmoy Lahiri. The journey began in 1978, when Shri Utpal Bose established “Sargam,” a pioneering classical music organization that became a cultural beacon in North Bengal. During the 80s and 90s, “Sargam” stood tall as the only classical music institution in the region, nurturing traditions and paving the way for countless mesmerizing performances.
In 2008, the baton of this extraordinary legacy was passed to Shri Utpal Bose’s daughter, Vidushi Smt. Barnali Basu, who transformed “Sargam” into the registered Sur Sargam Foundation. With unwavering dedication, she expanded her father’s legacy by blending remarkable performances with expert teaching, inspiring new generations of classical music enthusiasts.
Over the decades, Sur Sargam has served as a sanctuary for Indian classical music, housing countless memorable performances. The legacy of Shri Utpal Bose resonates deeply and continues to inspire audiences and artists alike.
As a tribute to this rich history, the upcoming concerts will celebrate Shri Utpal Bose’s indelible impact on the world of music. These concerts will feature heartfelt performances by his students, each meticulously mentored by Vidushi Smt. Barnali Basu.
A Grand Finale to Remember: A Melodic Homage
The April 4th and 5th concerts promise to be a magnificent tribute to the legacy of Shri Utpal Bose, brought to life by an extraordinary ensemble of artists.
