MUSICIAN ANINDITA CHAKRABORTY
“I am a scientist in materials research by profession. However from early childhood days I had keen interest in music. Initially my exposure was to Tagore songs and other Bengali songs. My school was one of its kind in the sub urban area of Kolkata. We learnt alongside regular courses, to love different art forms and be able to express ourselves through those art forms.That stayed with me after school days as well,” says the renowned musician Anindita Chakraborty.
“I started my music lessons again in Jamshedpur, the city of my workplace. Making albums, singing in live gigs, making music videos became part of my musical journey,” she added.
Anindita Chakraborty has been trained in Classical music under the guidance of Srimati Uma Guha, disciple of eminent musician and revered Guru Ustad Bhishmadev Chattopadhyay and eminent musician and musicologist Shri Krishnadhan Bandyopadhyay.
In 2018 I met my Indian Classical music Guru Srimati Uma Guha. My perspective towards music and life changed a lot. I am fortunate to witness such a divine personality and be able to learn from her the core of Indian Classical music.

I find that learning and practicing Indian classical music has connected me to myself and to the universe out there. Indian classical music is more of meditation for oneself. I consider myself fortunate enough that I am learning Indian classical from my Guru who is a disciple of Ustad Bhismadev Chattopadhay and Shri Krishnadhan Bandyopadhyay,” Anindita Chakraborty shares about her artistic journey.
Anindita Chakraborty studied a Diploma in Tagore songs from Tagore Society Jamshedpur, followed by Masters in Tagore songs from Rabindra Bharati University Kolkata.

“There are two most important people who have inspired, trained and motivated me to learn, sing and perform songs of Tagore. Mr Asish Chowdhury, General secretary of The Tagore Society Jamshedpur and Mrs Chandana Chowdhury, Principal Tagore school of arts.
I also attended classes from Tagore song exponent Shri. Subrata Sengupta, Shri. Agniva Bandyopadhyay. Their guidance has immensely helped me in understanding Tagore’s compositions. I have 3 albums and a few singles at my credit,” Anindita Chakraborty said.
“Presently I am working on a couple of singles from Tagore’s composition, Atul Prasad Sen’s composition and on my Guruji Smt. Uma Guha ji’s composition. To me numbers do not matter anymore, it is the pleasure and responsibility as an artist that keep me going,” she said.
Anindita Chakrabory has an interest in learning music therapy focusing on traditional and spiritual Indian music and researching modern health care. She has undergone training in three certificate courses on music therapy from Chennai School of Music Therapy.

Now I am working in R&D of Tata Steel for 12 years, presently IL3 Officer Principal Scientist working in the Surface engineering research group. Have more than 25 published papers and 10 filed patents to my credit,” said Anindita Chakrabory.
Anindita Chakraborty is the recipient of the Young Metallurgist Award from the Ministry of Steel, Government of India.
