SKETCH TO STORY: A CELEBRATION OF ARTISTIC JOURNEYS
Nayan Naveli Gallery is thrilled to announce “Sketch to Story,” an exhibition starting from December 22nd to 31st, 2024, at Shridharani Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi. This event, curated by Amrita Kochhar, celebrates the fundamental role of drawings in the artistic process.
The exhibition features works from legendary artists Krishen Khanna, Anjolie Ela Menon, Thota Vaikuntam, Sakti Burman, Maite Delteil, Shobha Broota and Laxma Goud, as well as contemporary artists such as Neeraj Bakshi, Maya Burman, Nayanna Kanodia and Vimmi Indra.
“We believe that every artwork begins as a seed — a spark of an idea that takes shape through lines, forms and textures. In this journey of creation, drawings play a fundamental role. They are the artist’s first dialogue with their imagination, raw yet powerful, fragile yet enduring , beautiful yet initial,” says Amrita Kochhar, Curator of the show and Founder of Nayan Naveli Gallery, New Delhi.
“Sketch to Story” highlights how drawings, often seen as preliminary, are significant pieces of art that reveal the artist’s thought process and creative energy.
CELEBRATING THE POWER OF DRAWING
“This exhibition is a testament to the enduring power of drawing as an art form, where a single line can hold infinite possibilities and a sketch can transcend into a narrative. It invites art enthusiasts and collectors to engage with the essence of creation, experiencing art at its most vulnerable and authentic stage. We take immense joy and pride in presenting “Sketch to Story” as part of our ongoing commitment to curating meaningful exhibitions that inspire, connect and enrich,” says Amrita Kochhar.
