PROF. SURESH K. NAIR HONORED WITH JAN MITRA AWARD BY PVCHR AT VARANASI
The People’s Vigilance Committee on Human Rights (PVCHR) has awarded the Jan Mitra Award to the eminent artist Prof. Suresh K. Nair. This prestigious recognition celebrates his exceptional contributions to art and culture and his unwavering commitment to fostering peace and social harmony through his artistic endeavors. Prof. Nair’s visionary public art project, ‘Wall of Peace,’ has been instrumental in promoting unity and coexistence, showcasing the profound impact of art on society.
Helma Ritscher, Chairwoman of the Indo-German Society of Remscheid, Germany presented the prestigious award. The event was graced by Dr. Lenin Raghuvanshi, Founder and Convenor of PVCHR; Prof. Chawky Frenn, Associate Professor at George Mason University and Fulbright Scholar at Banaras Hindu University; Smt. Shruti Nagvanshi; Shri. Direndra Sisodia; Shri. Amit Kumar and other eminent dignitaries, making it a memorable occasion celebrating art and peace.

With a career deeply rooted in tradition and enriched by international influences, Prof. Suresh K. Nair’s dedication to preserving cultural heritage while pushing the boundaries of contemporary art is truly commendable. His work stands as an inspiration to artists and peace advocates worldwide.
Prof. Suresh K. Nair has received numerous accolades, including the Elizabeth Green Shield Foundation Scholarship from Canada in 1999, the Fulbright Fellowship (2006-07) from the USA for an Educational Exchange Programme at Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia, and the Lalithakala Akademi Award, Kerala. He studied Mural Painting at the Institute of Mural Painting Guruvayur, Kerala, and Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. Currently, he serves as a Professor in the Department of Painting, Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
