KALA-YOGA SATSANGA AT TASMAI PUDUCHERRY ON SUNDAY 11 AUGUST 2024 @ 2. 30 PM
KALA-YOGA SATSANGA conducts their regular visit at PANANGATESWARAR TEMPLE, 32 Kms from Pondicherry, is believed to have been built by the Chola King Kulothungan -1.
This place is believed to have been performed the Yagna by Dakshan, father of goddess Parvathi, he invited all the devas but intentionally left out Lord Shiva. Devas who attended the Yagna, consumed the yagna-food. Lord Shiva was angered by this and the humiliation meted out to his wife Parvathi, later became the object of fury, legend says.
Another story connected to this ancient beautiful temple is that of Sibi Chakravarthi, the Chola emperor who once saw a pigeon being hunted by a vulture. The generosity of the King saved the pigeon, by offering his flesh to the vulture as food. This deed came to the notice of Lord Shiva and appreciated his generosity, gave him his darshan and offered Moksham. In order to celebrate this and honour King Sibi, a beautiful Temple was built here.
