DISCOVER THE “ILLUSION OF PERMANENCE” AT THE BENGAL BIENNALE
The SanZen Collective by Potthead Studio is thrilled to present “Illusion of Permanence,” an evocative installation curated by Anahita Daruwala Banerjee at Santiniketan. The exhibition is on show till 22 December 2024.
Hosted in the cultural heart of Santiniketan, as part of Bengal Biennale, the exhibition explores humanity’s desire for stability in a world of constant change.
“ILLUSION OF PERMANENCE delves into the constructs we build around fleeting moments, challenging the deceptive narratives of constancy. Featuring works by six visionary artists—Prakriti, Bobby, Milon, Itra, Krishna and Rohitendra—the exhibition examines the delicate balance between what endures and what transforms,” says Anahita Daruwala Banerjee, curator of the show.
Anahita Daruwala Banerjee’s curatorial vision encourages a profound rethinking of permanence. She explains, “Each piece reveals the fragile constructs we build around fleeting moments, encouraging reflection on the beauty found within change, decay and renewal. Impermanence is not a loss but a continuous unfolding.”
HIGHLIGHTS
The exhibition features captivating installations that explore themes of transience and change. Bobby’s “Spores of Change” uses mushrooms to symbolize decay and regeneration, and Krishna’s “Erosion of Time” highlights the fragility of human control over nature. Milon’s “Balancing Destruction & Rebirth” examines the delicate balance between creation and destruction, and Prakriti’s “In the Presence of Emotion” invites viewers to reflect on the temporary nature of emotions through an interactive installation.
