CELEBRATING INDIAN CLASSICAL ART: 6TH DURGAPUR DANCE & MUSIC FESTIVAL

The 6th Edition of the Durgapur Dance & Music Festival 2024, presented by Nityabriti Batayan, promises to be a spectacular celebration of artistic excellence, will be held at the Srijoni Auditorium City Center in Durgapur, West Bengal, on 21 December 024 at 4:30 PM.

With vibrant performances and a rich cultural showcase, this festival is set to highlight the beauty of dance and music, and will enchant all.

The festival will be graced by chief guests, Shri Pradip Majumdar, the Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development of West Bengal, and Shri Narendranath Chakroborty, a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Their presence will add a touch of prestige and honor to the event. Among the guests of honor will be notable personalities such as Smt Anindita Mukherjee, the Mayor of Durgapur; Mr. Kabi Dutta, the Chairman of ADDA; Dr. Sourav Chatterjee, the SDM of Durgapur; Guru T Sankaranarayanan, the Principal (retired) of Sangeet Bhavan, Viswa-Bharati and Tarun Bose, a renowned photographer.

The festival will also feature a lineup of distinguished guest artists who will mesmerize the audience with their performances. Guru Ashim Bandhu Bhattacharjee and his troupe will perform Kathak, a classical dance form. Pandit Iman Das, a celebrated musician, will present Hindustani vocals. Guru Priti Patel’s disciples are to showcase Manipuri dance, while the Kolkata Kalamandalam will present Bharatanatyam. Ritika Karamam will also  perform Kuchipudi, another classical dance form.

The festival, directed by Kalamandalam Swarnadeepa Mahanta, the Director of the Durgapur Dance & Music Festival is set to be a spectacular display of talent, culture and tradition

Founded in 2015, the festival aims to cultivate interest in Indian Classical art forms. The festival continues to spread the essence of Indian culture. With over 19 years of legacy, the institute has enriched the cultural landscape of Durgapur through numerous programs and workshops. Kalamandalam Swarnadeepa Mahanta, a renowned Indian classical dancer and the festival’s director, has conducted many workshops and performances in India and abroad.
