DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL (JOKA) SOUTH KOLKATA CELEBRATED VIBRANT ANNUAL CULTURAL PROGRAMME CHRYSALIS
Delhi Public School (Joka) South Kolkata celebrated the first day of its Annual Cultural Programme, Chrysalis, on 21st December 2024. The event was graced by the presence of Shri Dilip Mondal, Minister of State, Ministry of Transport, Government of West Bengal, as the chief guest. Other esteemed guests included Shri Mohan Naskar, Hon’ble Member of the Legislative Assembly, Satgachia Legislative Assembly, Government of West Bengal; Smt. Nilima Mistry Bishal, Zilla Sabhadipati, South 24 Parganas Zilla Parishad; S. S. Bandyopadhyay, G.M. Marketing, SAIL CMO ER Kolkata and Mr. Dhananjay Singh, an eminent businessman and well-wisher of the DPS Joka family.
The junior Dipsites dazzled the audience with their vibrant performances. The event was a grand success, showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of the students.
The performances included plays in Hindi, Bengali and English, blending subtle themes with comic elements and more somber ones like ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens. The dances ranged from Christmas carols to folk medleys and musical renditions, all resonating with joyful symphony. Both toddlers and juniors exuded vibrance, energy and grace.
On the second day, dignitaries from the state graced the occasion. Mr. Naresh Gupta, Branch Manager, Kolkata, Steel Authority of India Ltd., and Dr. Ranjit Sur, retired professor, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, felicitated students receiving Scholar and Honour badges.
DPS showcased its students’ talents through diverse performances, including folk songs of baul, kathak and flamenco fusions, ballet and musical renditions from Tagore to Bollywood. The audience enjoyed Dance Dramas of Tagore and contemporary comedies, leaving an indelible mark on the tapestry of time, as evidenced by their smiling faces.
