SENI SANGEET SABHA’S “ANJUMAN: AN AFTERNOON WITH CLASSICAL TOUCHES”
On 14 December 2024, the historic BAISNABDAS MULLICK HOUSE THAKURDALON in Kolkata will come alive with the enchanting extravaganza of classical music, titled “Anjuman: An Afternoon with Classical Touches.” This event is organized by the Seni Sangeet Sabha (1970), a group dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of classical music, founded by Acharya Birendra Kishore Roychowdhury. The Sangeet Sabha was established by Guru Birendra Kishore Roychowdhury with Arun Kumar Seal as the first President of the organization in 1970.
This special event will feature mesmerizing musical performances and honor distinguished guests, promising a memorable experience for all. The prorams will begin at 1.30 PM with a beautiful opening song by Shilpi Pandit.
Guest of Honour, Dr. Sayan Bhattacharya, the Deputy Director of the Indian Museum and Chief Guest, Mr. Kapil Kaul, Coordinator, Consulate of Mauritius & India Chairman of the US Global Business Forum, will grace the occasion with their presence. Special guest Mr. Rajib Basu, a Regional Council Member of CII, will also be present to add to the grandeur.
The event will begin with welcoming speeches, followed by a special ceremony to honor renowned Poet Mrs. Kadambari Kaul. She will be felicitated as SAHITYA RATNA for her outstanding contributions to English literature.
During the event, a book titled “Prothom Dekha” by Mr. Saikat Neogy will be published, adding a literary touch to the musical afternoon.
Musical performances will be the highlight of the day.
Sri Ashim Kumar Dawn will perform a mesmerizing Kheyal, accompanied by Sri Sambhunath Das on the harmonium, Sri Bireswar Bhaumik on the tabla, and Sri Koushik Dawn on the tanpura. The audience will be spellbound by their talent.
Sri Subroto Dawn will take the stage with his violin, accompanied by Sri Joy Dasgupta on the tabla. Their performance will be a beautiful blend of melody and rhythm, leaving the audience in awe.
The evening will conclude with a grand Kheyal performance by Pandit Ashok Nadgir, accompanied by Sri Amitananda Roy on the tabla and Sri Sayan Chatterjee on the harmonium.
The heritage partner for the event is the Sri Baisnab Das Mullick Family, and the event is presented by the Seni Sangeet Sabha President, Sri Banibroto Pal, with vice presidents Sri Bishoke Seal, Sri Swapan Banerjee, Sri Anjan Banerjee, along with Sri Biswaroop Roy. The joint secretaries, Sri. Indranil Banerjee and Sri. Subroto Dawn and mentor Pandit Partha Pratim Roy, have also worked tirelessly to make the event a success. The program coordinator is Anindita Dawn.
