17TH GURU DEBAPRASAD NRITYA PARAMPARA FESTIVAL: A CELEBRATION OF ODISSI DANCE IN NEW DELHI

Debadhara Delhi, a pioneering institution dedicated to preserving and promoting the unique Odissi dance style of Late Guru Debaprasad Das,presents the 17th Guru Debaprasad Nrutya Parampara Festival at the Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi on  3rd and 4th December 2024, starting @ 6:30 PM each evening. 

Curated under the leadership of Guru Dr. Binayak Panda, Festival Director, and Ankita Kumari, Assistant Festival Director, the festival promises an extravaganza of classical Indian dance and music, celebrating India’s cultural heritage.

On the first day of the festival, Tuesday, 3rd December 2024, the audience will be treated to a mesmerizing performance of Odissi dance by Guru Dr. Binayak Panda & Group. Following this, Padma Bhushan Guru Swapna Sundari and her disciple will present Agama Bharatam, an ancient temple ritual dance. The evening will also feature Padma Shree Guru Bharati Shivaji & Group, showcasing the graceful art of Mohiniattam. To conclude the day, celebrated Kathak artists from Assam, Guru Marami Medhi and Meghranjani Medhi, will perform a captivating Kathak duet.

On the second day of the festival, Wednesday, 4th December 2024, the audience will be treated to a stellar Odissi performance by Debadhara’s talented artists. Following this, Dr. Pushpashree Mishra will captivate with her soulful semi-classical vocal renditions. The evening will conclude with an enchanting performance by the Ghazal Maestro, Guru Chandan Das, ensuring a memorable night for all attendees.

Established in 2003 by Guru Dr. Binayak Panda, Debadhara has made a significant mark in the realm of Indian classical dance. By preserving the synthetic gharana of Odissi, which harmoniously blends tribal, folk and classical traditions of Odisha, Debadhara has created a unique identity. Over the past 21 years, the institution has successfully organized 36 festivals of Indian dance and music both in India and internationally, promoting cultural exchange and global appreciation of India’s rich artistic heritage.

This year, the festival proudly continues its tradition of celebrating the rich heritage and beauty of Indian classical dance and music. It brings together both maestros and emerging talents on one stage.
