Dr. MONICA SHAH is a well known Classical singer from Ahmedabad, India.
Dr. Monica Shah is a prominent disciple of renowned Thumari singer Padma Vibhushan Girijadevi. She has been trained under the guidance of Dr. Pradipta Ganguli of Kirana Gharana and also influenced by the great maestro Shri. Rasiklal Andharia of Kirana Gharana. She was trained by Shri. Laljibhai Chauhan also.
Dr. Monica Shah has sung more than 1500 concerts of Classical, Semi Classical music and bhajans. She has participated in many concerts including Saptak Festival, Aradhana Festival in Ahmedabad, Baiju Samaroh, Tansen Samaroh Gwalior, NCPA Mumbai, SRA Kolkata, Tana Riri Festival Gujrat, BHU Varanasi, Habitat Center, New Delhi.
Dr. Monica Shah is Ph.D in Music with a Gold medal and received many awards including Gujarat Gaurav Puraskar, Surmani, Sangeet shiromani, Tana Riri Sanman, GCCI Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Award, Sangeet Ratna Award.
She has been visiting the USA and Canada for conducting workshops and concerts for the last 16 years.
Dr. Monica Shah has written 13 books named ‘Sangeet Aradhana’ in 7 parts in English and Gujarati from Prarmbhik to Visharad and Alankar for the students and music lovers.
Recently she has written ‘Thumri Aradhana’, a book on Thumri. Dadra, Hori, Chaitee, Kajari and more. There are 30 Classical, Semi Classical and bhajan CDs on her credit and are highly appreciated by music lovers.
